National seminar on the implementation of the European Landscape Convention

The contribution of the Czech Republic to the implementation of the European Landscape Convention is a background of the national seminar focused on „Význam strategického plánování pro trvale udržitelný vývoj kulturní krajiny“

Adopted in Florence, Italy, on 20 October 2000 and in force since 1 March 2004, the European Landscape Convention aims to promote the protection, management and planning of European landscapes and to organise European co-operation on landscape issues. It is the first international treaty to be exclusively concerned with all dimensions of the European landscape. The Convention applies to the Parties’ entire territory and covers natural, rural, urban and peri-urban areas. It deals with ordinary and degraded landscapes as well as those of outstanding beauty.

Structure of the workshop consists of four blocks.
Three blocks will form the basic triangle of the pillars of the landscape:

  • landscape
  • Cultural
  • Socioeconomic

Exploring the way to bolt the harmony of these pillars is the fourth block, which will be devoted to issues of law and respect of territorial, spatial and strategic planning in relation to examples from the EU, a comprehensive land adjustment and the importance of strategic planning for sustainable development of the Cultural Landscape.
Its goal is to specify, in accordance with the principles ELC memorandum to the call for political and governmental sphere for a change of approach and collaboration among the various departments on the issue of implementation ELC and to improve access and awareness of the population of the CR landscape.

Participants
The Seminar is intended for European specialists in the field of landscape, cultural and natural heritage, sustainable spatial development, representatives of national, regional and local authorities, public and private organisations and NGOs. The number of participants is limited to 150 particiapants. The working languages at the Seminar are English, and Czech. There are no registration fees for the participants.
